FAQs

1 / What kind of therapy do you practice?

I am trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This is a kind of talk therapy where you bring in what feels important to you and we look at the emotional patterns that are affecting you. Then we work on strategies to change those patterns.

2 / What are your qualifications and credentials?

I have a Diploma in Psychotherapy from the Ontario Psychotherapy and Counselling College. As part of the program, I participated in 5 years of group therapy and saw psychotherapy clients for 2 years under supervision. I have also been in personal therapy for 6 years.

I am a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT).

My other education includes a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from York University and a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University.

3 / How long will therapy take?

Every person is different. Some people need support to get through a specific crisis or concern. They might stay for 10 sessions or stay for over a year. Other clients need long term help with deep trauma and family issues, so more consistent help over the long run is needed.  At the end of the day, it takes as much or as little time as it needs.

4 / What are your fees?

I charge a sliding scale between $80 - $120. This means that you choose a number in that range that works for you on an ongoing basis. You do have to be aware that cancellations require 24 hours notice, or the full fee is charged for the missed session.

5 / Do you accept insurance?

Receipts are provided that you can submit for insurance reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to be sure of coverage as each plan is different.
